  • Restricted Relativity

Albert Einstein, in 1905, submitted to the scientific world a new theory of the dynamics of solid bodies in rectilinear and uniform movement. The Theory known as Restricted Relativity (RR) or Special Relativity which is based on two postulates: 1. The laws of Mechanics are the same in all inertial reference systems, 2. The light, in vacuum, has a constant speed of 299792.458 km / s and is independent of the state of movement of the source and of the observer.

  • Restricted Relativity - Animation

This simulation consists of two parts. The first part represents the return journey of a spaceship and shows the effects on time and distance, as foreseen by the theory of limited relativity. The journey is observed by two reference systems, one considered stationary (Earth) that we indicate with S and a second one in motion (spaceship) that we indicate with S'. In this animation the accelerations / de-accelerations are not taken into account and, time dilation and distance contraction, are analyzed only as a function of speed.

  • Minkowski diagram

The Minkowski diagram, also known as a spacetime diagram, was developed in 1908 by Hermann Minkowski and provides the representation of the properties of space and time in the special theory of relativity. It allows a qualitative understanding of the corresponding phenomena like time dilation and length contraction without mathematical equations. Minkowski diagrams are two-dimensional graphs that depict events as happening in a universe consisting of one space dimension and one time dimension.
